New Orleans’ Home Movie Day's main event will be an open screening on August 12th, in which members of the community will be asked to bring in their family's home movies. The films and videotapes will then be inspected by trained film archivists, and then projected in front of an audience, along with musical accompaniment. Don't have your own home movies? Come and watch! Historians from local historical organizations and universities will also be on hand to talk about the history of New Orleans as shown in the movies. The open screenings will also include films and videotapes from New Orleans film collections such as the Historic New Orleans Collection and the Louisiana State Museum.
