gauge films is provided for your information only. While the listed services have read and agreed to support the
preservationist values expressed in our "Transfer Options and Issues" document,
Home Movie Day and its organizers do not endorse the services of any specific labs by listing them here. Before
sending film to ANY lab for transfer, repair, or other work, we strongly recommend communicating with them by phone
or in person and ensuring that only people experienced with small-gauge film will be handling your materials, and
that preservation of your original films is their first priority. If you experience negligent film handling from
any service listed here please contact us at The Center for Home Movies to
report the problem.

Photoplays transfers Regular 8mm, Super 8 (sound and silent) and 16mm (optical sound) film to digital formats. Our film transfers are done using a custom built telecine chain equipped with a 3 chip MiniDV camera. Film is transferred directly to computer/hard drive where it is colour corrected a output to requested format. There is no flicker, no hotspot and there is even corner to corner focus. Our work has been shown at festivals and on television. Output formats include, Dvd, .avi files (DV NTSC codec) on data dvd or client provided hard drive.
